Zhiyun Crane Handheld Brushless Gimbal Stabilizer: Roll Axis Screw Becomes Loose

%e6%88%aa%e5%9b%be1I’ve already written extensively about the Zhiyun Crane – as of now, the highest quality, most affordable stabilizer for small mirrorless cameras. But there is one fly in the ointment, and that is the screw that adjusts the roll axis. When picking up the gimbal, the screw becomes loose, throwing the camera off balance. I’ve written Rose at the Zhiyun Service Department, and she has been most helpful, usually responding to my emails the very same day. I’ve made a brief (poor quality) video with my iPod illustrating the problem.

Update October 7: I just heard back from Rose at the customer service department, and she confirmed that they’d indeed encountered this problem before with other gimbals in the same serial number batch as mine. If I’d noticed the defect within two weeks of purchasing the Crane, they would have replaced it free of charge. As it is, I have to send it back to China for repair, which means I’ll be without the stabilizer for a couple months. I just purchased the iFootage Shark S1 slider, so I can play around with that while waiting for its return.
